Oscars and icons

Dylan and the Beatles on tour? Well, almost... Dylan is a master poet and lyricist to be sure. Some of his greatest lyrics including “Blowin in the Wind”, “Mr. Tambourine Man”, and “Forever Young”, have been completely reimagined by Oscar-winning American composer John Corigliano. Touching, shattering, explosive, inward looking, and uniquely American - words you thought you knew... reimagined anew. Combine these with rising star Gabriella Smith's haunting Number Nine - based on the Beatle's White Album, and chase them with David Lang's These Broken Wings... you've got yourself an American Icons party! Roll out the Red Carpet!

What could possibly compete with the Wednesday program you just saw featuring the staggering virtuosity of Andy Akiho you ask? How about an entire program of Akiho works including both Andy AND the whole PNME team?!! Akiho is one of the most compelling new voices in American composition and will doubtless be one in a long and growing line of Pulitzer Prize winning composers championed and commissioned by the PNME. Bring your lime green bandana tonight folks; it will be a complete Akihodown!
