Lindsay Garritson, Guest Pianist

Pianist Lindsay Garritson has performed throughout the United States and abroad since the age of four. She has appeared as soloist with the Phoenix Symphony, Las Colinas Symphony Orchestra (Texas), Charleston Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre Métropolitain (Montreal), Atlantic Classical Orchestra, Orquestra Sinfônica Barra Mansa (Brazil), the Yale Philharmonic Orchestra, and the European Philharmonic Orchestra, among others. 

An award-winning performer, Lindsay has received top prizes at the 2013 USASU Bosendorfer International Piano Competition, 2011 Montreal International Piano Competition, the 2011 Yale Woolsey Concerto Competition, the 2010 Mozarteum International Chopin Competition (Salzburg), the Fite Family Competition, the St. Louis Artist Presentation Society, the Sarasota Artist Series Competition, and the Music Teacher National Association's Young Artist's Competition. She was invited as one of thirty participants internationally to compete in the 2013 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, and in March of 2014, she was invited to compete as one of six finalists worldwide for the 2014 German Piano Award, held in Frankfurt, Germany. Most recently, Lindsay has been selected to compete in the 2016 Sydney International Piano Competition, to take place this July. 

Also an active participant at music festivals and courses worldwide, Lindsay has attended Music@Menlo’s International Program, The Steans Institute (Ravinia Festival), Prussia Cove International Musicians Seminar in England, Aspen Music Festival, International Holland Music Sessions, Orford Arts Center, (Canada), International Keyboard Institute and Festival at Mannes College, International Institute for Young Musicians, Innsbrook Music Festival and School, Amalfi Coast Music Festival (Italy), Prague International Master classes, Nancy Music Festival (France), the Igualada Master classes (Spain), Mozarteum International Master Classes (Austria), and Obidos International Piano Master classes (Portugal). An avid chamber musician, Lindsay has performed with Ani Kavafian, Carter Brey, and Ettore Causa, among many others. 

 She has also appeared in master classes with artists such as Leon Fleisher, Andras Schiff, Emanuel Ax, Menahem Pressler, Claude Frank, Peter Frankl, John Perry, Thomas Ades, Gil Kalish, Wu Han, Jeremy Denk, Hung-Kuan Chen, Ann Schein, Matti Raekaellio, Awadagin Pratt, Simon Trpceski, Eric Le Van, the late David Golub, Monique du Phil, and Kenneth Drake. 

Also an accomplished violinist, Lindsay was concertmaster of the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra from 2003-2006.  She has also had the honor of performing for such dignitaries as Jimmy Carter and Colin Powell, and she has participated in master classes with Leonidas Kavakos and Lewis Kaplan. Her teachers have included John Kendall, founder of the Suzuki movement in the United States. 

Lindsay holds degrees from Principia College (B.A. in Music) and Yale School of Music (M.M. and Artist Diploma). Her piano teachers include Boris Berman, Luiz de Moura Castro, Choong-Mo Kang, Zena Ilyashov, Emilio Del Rosario, the late Jane Allen, and Jennifer Lim Judd. She currently resides in Stuart, FL.
